MSC-LIMS includes an extensive list of system reports to collect, present, and analyze lab data. Users can also develop and generate their own tabular-style reports using MSC-LIMS' user-defined report facility. All MSC-LIMS system reports and user-defined reports can be saved in a report snapshot file so they may be viewed and printed using the MSC-LIMS Report Viewer.
Think of the MSC-LIMS Report Viewer as a portable Print Preview. It's a stand-alone executable program used to view, and print a report snapshot. Think of a report snapshot as a portable Microsoft Access Report. A report snapshot file, with a .snp extension, contains a full-fidelity copy of each page of a report and preserves the report's two-dimensional layout, graphics, and other embedded objects.
The combination of report snapshots and the MSC-LIMS Report Viewer can be used to distribute any MSC-LIMS report without requiring that users have a full MSC-LIMS license to view or print the reports. Using report snapshots, reports can be emailed or posted to a file server to distribute LIMS data that is pre-approved by lab personnel.

To display a hierarchy of folders on a local or network disk drive, the MSC-LIMS Report Viewer uses a folder browser similar to the left side of the Windows Explorer program's window (see the MSC-LIMS Report Viewer screen above). Selecting a folder displays its snapshot files in the file list below the folder browser.
The file list located below the folder browser on the left side of the Report Viewer window shows all snapshot files (.snp extension) in the selected folder. Selecting a file in the list displays the report in the viewer on the right side of the Report Viewer window. Displayed reports can be viewed at different magnifications and printed. Navigation buttons and a right-click menu are used to move between report pages.
